Our history

Our history

The Val Masino granite and wood from our chestnut forests contribute to the distinctiveness of our mill, which dates back to the early 1900s. We decided to restore this unique structure and use it for our agritourism and our home.
"Baff" is the nickname of our family. It is inspired by the long moustache that made one of our ancestors famous, a prominent character to whom a district of Val Masino was dedicated: the "Ponte del Baffo" (the Moustache Bridge).

And it is right there that our restaurant history begins.

It was thanks to our grandmother, Nonna Carolina, that in the early 1900s, our house was transformed into an inn comprising a simple kitchen and some rooms. Later on, her daughters Angela, Ida and Sandra continued the activity, enlarging the inn and opening the Ponte del Baffo restaurant where, in the early 1960s, the two grandchildren Angelo and Gianmario began to take their first steps in the catering world.
It was the 70s when the two brothers, in their early twenties, decided to build a large cattle shed in the village, a part of which was converted into the Agritourism in 1995.
It was in the year 2000 that, followed by a long and meticulous renovation from a cluster of houses, formerly used as stables and before as an ancient mill, our agritourism “Case dei Baff” was born. Still today, after more than a century of history, the Cerasa family - GianMario and Angelo, together with his wife Ornella and his son Corrado - carry on this passion for hospitality.

What we offer to our guests is a stay immersed in the quiet and relaxation of nature, a genuine menu made of our own production, seasonal fruits and vegetables, reared meats and wine from the vineyards that surround us.

Our “Principino” red wine is a rosso di Valtellina DOC, whose grapes are cared for by our young agronomist Nicola Del Nero, who has become another member of our family. It is dedicated to a very special person who, unfortunately, passed away too soon but will remain forever in our memory thanks to his sociable personality, his strong determination and his extraordinary uniqueness.

Cheers!
